DEPOSITION RATE CALCULATOR

Convert solid or tubular wire feed into gross wire mass and deposited weld metal rate.

FORMULA AND ASSUMPTIONS

Wire area = pi x diameter squared / 4. Gross mass rate equals wire area x wire-feed length x density, after converting mm, m, cm3 and kg. Deposited rate equals gross mass rate x deposition efficiency.

Density presets are nominal values. Flux-cored wire density varies with construction; use a documented product density when accuracy matters. Efficiency accounts for spatter, stub loss, fume and other metal not retained in the weld.

USE THE DEPOSITED RATE

Use deposited kg/hr, rather than gross wire mass, for weld-time and production estimates.
